More about me

Hello! I am Karen, your profe favorita

Welcome to this space. If you are here, it is probably because you are looking for a different kind of educational support: one where learning is not a boring chore, but a journey full of empathy, curiosity and human meaning.

I firmly believe that we cannot learn what does not move us, and I have spent 15 years dedicating my life to what I love most: teaching, supporting and building community.

A journey guided by education and my roots

I was born in Ecuador, a country of beautiful cultural richness that gave me my greatest tool for language teaching: being a native Spanish speaker, a dynamic, rich language that is valued all over the world.

Teaching did not only give me a purpose, it opened the doors of the world to me: it let me travel, teach and learn from many different cultural and international settings. Over my career I have worked in a range of educational environments, including demanding frameworks such as the International Baccalaureate (IB). Three years ago my path brought me to the beautiful island of Cyprus, in the Mediterranean, a place I am growing to love deeply and from where I keep connecting with families and students all over the world.

My training: the art of connecting in order to teach

My professional story began by training as an educator specialising in English. But my curiosity and my wish to truly understand every student took me one step further: I specialised in psychopedagogy.

I wanted to understand how the brain works, how to approach learning difficulties and how to support social and emotional development. That training gave me the tools for a deeply inclusive approach, respectful of neurodiversity (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia). Above all, it taught me that before teaching any content, you have to build a real bond.

Mentor to teachers, companion to families

Over time my passion for education grew beyond the classroom. Today I also work as a mentor to teachers, supporting other educators with classroom management strategies, curriculum design and inclusive education.

I also work hand in hand with families. As a psychopedagogue and also as a mother, I understand the emotional and very real challenges of raising and educating a child. That is why I offer practical, down to earth guidance to parents who want to support their children with calm and structure.

A little more about me, outside the classroom

So we can get to know each other a little better, here are a few things about my personal side:

  • Being a mum. Raising my son gives me an empathetic, realistic view of family life, and I bring that into every tutoring and guidance session.

  • Movement is life. Beyond teaching, dance is one of my great passions. I firmly believe the body and movement are a fundamental part of learning.

  • Cat person. I really enjoy quiet moments at home with my cat.

  • Island life. I love meeting new people and enjoying the Mediterranean warmth of Cyprus.

Shall we build community?
